Chaos reigns!
Yes it does! I’m in the count down to my Open House next weekend, and I’ve got pots everywhere: big pots, little pots, teapots, honey pots, serving trays, vases and urns! Now the trick is to get it to look like a cohesive body of work. Geez! My four legged studio helpers aren’t much use for this …
Speaking of stuff — every time I go to clear out my studio, office, and showroom I wonder how I managed to collect so much stuff. I thin it out every time, but it seems to breed all by itself. So glad I don’t have a larger space. I’d just have more!

Adorable or tacky?
Then there’s the Christmas stuff — today it was all carted over from the garage so I can start decorating the place for Christmas. What kind of Open House would it be without a little Christmas cheer, eh? Well, I’ve got enough cheer to decorate every room in the house (including the bathrooms), so hopefully by the time you get here we’ll be well done. Trying to find that fine balance between decorated for the season and tacky (mind you, what’s not tacky about Christmas decorations in the first place?). I’ve got two trees to put up upstairs, garlands for the halls, and am heading out to the woods tomorrow for fresh cedar, etc., for centre pieces for the tables. You’ll have to tell me if I’ve succeeded when you come for the Open House.

Cannisters.

Large bowls.
Yes, I’m still recovering from the wood-firing last weekend and the cold that followed as well. But I LOVE the pieces I got out of the wood kiln! There’s still a lot of work to do on them (grinding and cleaning the bottoms, not something I generally have to do with my regular firing in the electric kiln). These pictures don’t do them justice — but I didn’t have time to get out the studio photo equipment!

Draw teapot.
This is the piece for the annual Open House draw this year, I had a teabowl that matched it, so I’m including it as well. Come out and fill in a ballot — it would make a great Christmas company teapot. Lots of color, and a joyful piece for the season. Surely go with a few biscuits or even some of my favourite Christmas cake? It’s the last one from this painterly series, a true original!
Well, I should get back to work. This stuff won’t organize itself. I’ll post pictures as I get it properly sorted. If you see something in the photo’s you’d like me to put aside for you, let me know right away. Have already had a customer through today buying up mugs — thanks to all of you who share my social media stuff!
Hope you’re having a great day,
Susan McD
